Nací y crecí en el Valle Roaring Fork, una comunidad en que me fomenta el gusto de estar con la naturaleza, y también mi pasión para los artes performativos. Soy plurilingüe y una maestra, artista de teatro, y madre. ¡Me encanta el teatro de improvisación! El filosophía “Si, y” de la improvisación es mi mantra personal. Creo en el poder de los artes de sanar, conectar, y ayudarnos de tener vidas mejores. También, creo que cada uno de nosotros tiene el poder de crear si nos damos la oportunidad.

I was born and raised in the Roaring Fork Valley, a community that fostered my love of exploring the outdoors as well as my passion for the performing arts. I am a multilingual teacher, theatre artist, and mother. I love improvisational theatre! The “yes, and” philosophy of improv is my personal mantra. I believe in the power of the arts to heal us, connect us, and help us lead more meaningful lives. I also believe that each of us has the power to create if we give ourselves the opportunity.

The foundation of improv is the concept of “Yes and”, which means that players accept what their fellow players create and then they add to it. Put simply, everyone is working together and there are no wrong answers, only opportunities. When playing with your children, “Yes and” is a powerful tool to encourage confidence, creativity and collaboration. Accept your children’s suggestions without judgement and incorporate them into your play. For example, if singing “Wheels on the Bus” and your child says the babies on the bus go, “woof, woof, woof”, instead of responding, “No, the babies on the bus go ‘wa, wa, wa’” (children hear “no” so often), take your child’s suggestion as an opportunity to be goofy together. It is guaranteed to make both of you laugh and will empower your child to value their own voice and ideas. “Yes and” is a wonderful way to connect and be creative with your child!

La fundación de la improvisación es el concepto de “Sí y”, que significa que jugadores aceptan lo que crea los otros jugadores y entonces añaden algo. Simplemente, todos están trabajando juntos y no hay respuestas incorrectas, solamente oportunidades. Cuando está jugando con sus hijos, “Sí y” es una manera muy poderosa para fomentar la confianza, creatividad, y la colaboración. Acepta las sugerencias de su hijo/a sin juicio y usarlas en los juegos creativos. Por ejemplo, si está cantando “Las ruedas en el autobús” y su hijo/a dice que los bebés en el autobús dice, “guau, guau, guau”, en vez de responder, “No, los bebés en el autobús dice ‘bua, bua’” (los niños escuchan “no” tantas veces cada día), toma la sugerencia de su hijo/a como una oportunidad de ser tonto y gracioso juntos. Ustedes dos se van a reír y su hijo/a va a aprender de valorar su propia voz y ideas. ¡“Sí y” es una manera maravillosa de conectar y ser creativo con su niño!
