Glenwood Springs Middle School

Bi-Lingual VOICES Story-Bridge Project

This project’s goal is to disrupt negative stereotypes of immigrants while empowering students with tools to share their personal stories. The project kicks off with all-school assemblies featuring adult community members sharing their immigration stories. Then, newcomers to the school explore visual journaling techniques to express big experiences and feelings on paper. These journals then serve as a bridge to help them write their personal narratives. Students can choose to share their stories onstage, in the newspaper, and/or on the local radio station.
